I was a loser!

As a sophomore in high school I qualified for the state wrestling tournament with a losing record.  In the first round, I caught the eventual 2nd place finisher (the man pictured above with me).  He was a year older than me and beat me 15-0.  I left the tournament with my tail between my legs.  I dedicated the entire summer and fall to wrestling and the next year entered the tournament with a 34-2 record. I made it to the finals against the same guy who throttled me 15-0 a year earlier.  As you can see from the picture, I had the upper hand and tied the match with 20 seconds left.  Unfortunately I lost in the final few seconds but what a difference a year makes!  I see guys quit Jiu Jitsu all the time when they are on the cusp of greatness.  You never know when your time is coming.  Stick with it and your time will come!
