Worlds recap!

We had a great weekend at the world championships in Las Vegas.  The competitors were; Maurice Bembry, Lyle Purdy, Hugh Roop, Ricky Nienhaus, Jeff Luffman and Tyler Baker.  I’m extremely proud of everyone that competed.  We won 5 matches and lost 6.  They proved we can compete at the highest level.

The skills and mettle they developed training for the biggest competition in the world will stay with them forever.  In addition to performing, they had to decide what weight class to enter then diet while ensuring proper nutrition.  They completed at least a 3 month training camp.  No weeks off.  No time off to recover from soreness.  They had to decide how to taper their training off 1-2 weeks before competition to ensure peak performance.  They had to travel and develop a game plan for each match.  They had to make weight at an exact time, then step on the mat and fight within 15-30 minutes after that weigh in.

Thank you Maurice, Lyle, Hugh, Ricky, Jeff and Tyler for proving North Broadway can compete at the highest level!
